The Playoffs are Set

The NFL wild card weekend is upon us and here are the teams doing battle this weekend to continue there quest to the Super Bowl.

Saturdays Games:
Falcons vs. Cardinals (NBC)
Colts vs. Chargers (NBC)

Sundays Games:
Ravens vs. Dolphins (CBS)
Eagles vs. Vikings (FOX)

Now I’m pretty happy that Dallas did NOT make the playoffs.  Yes I know I’m from this area, but never have been and most likely will not be a cowboys fan.  That is OK.  I’m a true home town fan of my ever losing Seattle Seahawks.  Now in the past they have done pretty well but the last couple of years they keep going down hill.  Next year is a new coach and hopefully everyone will be healed.

I would like to see the Cardinals, Colts, Dolphins and the Vikings make this round.  Of course that is who I would like to see win and move on.

The Weekend is Already Over

What a long but short weekend.  I know that really doesn’t make any since but that is what it felt like.  The first half started off really busy and the last half seemed to disappear rather quickly.  Friday night after work I started the weekend off by heading out to our soccer tournament.  It was FREEZING out.  I didn’t dress quite warm enough.  After the game (which we lost pretty bad) I cranked the car heater most of the way home.  My buddy Tim from Seattle called and I talked to him most of the way home so the time seemed to go by pretty fast, plus it helped to keep me awake.  Since the soccer field was about 1 hour from the house I didn’t make it home till about 10:35pm.  The bad news is I had to be back by 8:20am for our next game.  (hmmm why didn’t I just get a hotel room?  well probably the $$)

Our Saturday morning game was nothing short of a disaster.  0-10.  I can’t really explain what was said but I’m pretty sure the girls were not really happy.  Oh did I mention that Saturday was just as cold as Friday night?  yes it was, so I had about 1 hour to kill before the next game so I went down to Starbucks and got some hot chocolate to thaw out and write up some speech notes that I was going to deliver to the team after the next game.  We lost the next one also but it was 1-2 and they played much better than the first 2 games.

The rest of the weekend was rather uneventful.  Except the Flattening of Texas Tech by Oklahoma..  That was so awesome..

Anyways hope everyone had a good weekend.

Texas A&M in Iowa

Saturday was quite the long day.  But if you ask me, I will say it was worth it.

Saturday morning started off by driving over to my friends house as we were going to drive up to the airport together.  We got to Dallas Love Field around 12:15pm as we had to get through security.  Our Charter plane (by Southwest Airlines) took off about 2pm and it was a somewhat short flight and we got there about 3:45pm.

Once we hit the ground there were 3 tour buses ready to pick us up.  Once we all boarded we were off to Iowa State University.  I think we got to the stadium about 5pm (1 hour prior to kickoff) and walked around and took some pictures.  Of course the game started shortly after that and it was a good football game.  Go Aggies!  Texas A&M won 49-35.  After the game we headed back to the buses were we had to wait up to 45 minutes to get everyone back on board to make our way back to the Airport in Des Moines.  Once we arrived at the airport we had to all go through security again (which seemed to take forever) and once we were aboard the Southwest Pilots got us home in quick fashion.  We landed back in Dallas about 1:45am, and we drove back to my friends house, picked up my car and drove home.  I got to bed about 3:15am.

It was a very, very long day, but one I hope to remember forever.

Online Games

There are a couple of pretty cool online games that I partake in and thought I would just talk a little about them.  The first one is called Hattrick.  This is an online mmorpg based on Soccer.  I have done this for close to 1 year now and I have taken my crappy new user team and I have rebuilt the team to go 14-0-0 last season so I could be promoted to the next league up.  I’m now in league V.152 and there is some stiff competition.

I also just joined another one that looks really cool and its called Goal Line Blitz.  It’s an American football mmorpg.  So far since I have just joined, I only have 2 players.  I actually hope to build up enough to have my own team and manage it with other real players.  If you have any interest in this one, click the link above so I can get referral credits to buy my team.

I started a Blog to write down my history and progress of both these games:  fctwisters.wordpress.com

Weekend Wrapup (Oct. #1)

The weekend started off with a league soccer game.  Didn’t do to well on that one, we lost 0-2.  After the game I rushed home so I wouldn’t miss too much of the Oklahoma vs. Texas game.  Which was a pretty good game, but by now we all know the outcome.  And in case you missed it, Oklahoma lost which means they lost their #1 ranking as well.

Saturday night we went out to a quick (fast food) dinner since we left the house late and we were going to the movies.  ** Side note – Don’t spill your coke all over and in your wife’s new purse **  So after the clean up and finishing off our food, we headed to the theaters and watched ‘Fireproof’.  What a good movie.  If anyone left that movie theater with a dry eye just didn’t get it.  I highly recommend watching that movie.

Sunday early evening our friends invited us to ‘A Night of Hope’ with Joel Osteen.  This was pretty cool.  Never have seen him before in person and was a really fun outing with our friends to fellowship and spend some time with them and listen to Joel Osteen.  It was a good night.

Of course it’s now Monday and back to the busy work week.

Hope you all had a good weekend….
