The Last Day

Yesterday we went to the last day of the Texas State Fair.  It was such a nice day out too.  Upper 70’s maybe 80-81 but it was really nice.  Last year we didn’t go to the fair since I have Celiac disease it make it rather difficult to eat any of the fair foods.  I mean isn’t that the reason you really go to the state fair, to eat and eat fried fatty foods?  I know it used to be my reason.  Corn Dogs, funnel cakes, and belgium waffles, yummy.

So yesterday we really wanted to go.  My wife is a teacher and they get a free ticket so we decided since it was the last day lets just go out there for a few hours.  Glad we did, as I said before it was a really nice day and by the time we left around 4ish, the crowds were still not that bad for being a Sunday.

Overall we had a really fun time and did a couple things we have not done at the fair in years past.  Here are a couple of pictures that I took.

The Painting is on the Wall…

Yep I almost crashed when I was driving downtown this morning.  They were not even going to tell me that I was a honored person and they were painting me on the wall..  lol

League Game #4 and Today

Well we actually did it.  We finally won our first ever competitive soccer game.  We won 3-2 of SW Rangers.  It was a really good matched game, that’s for sure.

I’m just excited that they got a taste of victory.  Of course we have a long way to go, but I’m happy with the line up and the way we played today.  Still no make up info on last weeks rain hurricane delay.  After that I went and got my little brother and we went to a local arcade and played some video games, then we were off to a comic shop (haven’t been to one of those in years) and then we grabbed some lunch.  It was a really good day, just a little long.

Still not sure what is going on tomorrow, I’m sure I will be working on the house (Cleaning, blah)

Have a good rest of the weekend…!!!

Wish I had a Corvette

Sometimes I wish I had a Corvette.

The car is simply amazing with tons of horsepower and awesome looks.  I found this site with a huge amount of Corvette accessories. They have pretty much anything you would want to add to your Corvette.  One of the first things I would do is to add these awesome glow gauges.  They look so cool.  Then I would follow it up with some special corvette seat covers and a complete car cover.

They have so many accessories it’s unreal.  Everything from floor mats, front end bra’s to custom head lights or tail lights.  Need better exhaust or some new wheels? Check them out and boost up your Corvette.  Want some flair?  They have some really awesome body kits you can add, or just stylize yourself with some Corvette apparel.

Like I said, if I owned a Corvette this is the site I would frequent and I’m sure they would get all my money to trick out my Corvette.

I Need a Break

The other day I was talking to my cousin who lives in Vegas (She moved there for a teacher job) and we talked about how fun it would be to fly out there and visit her.  If we are lucky we only get to see each other maybe 1 time per year.  However the drawback is the cost of the flights.  We thought about just staying with her in her apartment but Leslie never really has experienced Vegas like I have.  So if we go I think we will check out the new las vegas hotels.

The last time I was there was years ago, probably at least 8 I would say, except to connect at the airport (where I won $100, lol).  There have been quite a few new hotels that have popped up since then and I would love to go check them out.  And it is such a huge place we better take some walking shoes too.  I think I will start planning a little trip maybe this winter or spring.

Friday Night Fun and Prizes

Last Friday night my good friend invited me to Texas A&M Coaches Night in Dallas at Fair Park.  Now for those who don’t know me too well, I’m really an Oklahoma Sooners fan, but on occassion I will go to Texas A&M events with my good friend.  When we got there, people were just pouring in.  I didn’t think that this event would really be as big as it was.  I think the count hit about 1800.  They had some good food, although I could only eat some of the sliced beef without the sauce, but it was still good.

We ate and then we checked out the silent auction.  This is where we got into trouble.

Let me give you a background on this trouble.  Last year both of our wives went to an auction and ended up spending $600 ($300 each) on a bunch of items, so they warned us not to do any auction things.  We laughed!  So of course while we were walking around we saw a couple cool things to put a silent bid down on.

Then the party started and we listened to some speeches from people, and a retired coach and then this years new coach, Mike Sherman.  He carried on a little too much but not all that bad.  Once the talks were over we had 15 minutes to check out the auction items and get our final write in bids before time expired.  Uh OH!  The auction ended and we ended up winning both the items..  lol  I don’t think the wives will be too happy.

So you ask what did we win?

First before I get to that, I made a little side bet with my friend.  I told him after the initial offer that if we won this prize I would actually go out and buy a Texas A&M polo shirt and wear it to this event, if we won!

Well let me tell you that I need to start shopping.

Our first item we won was a suite at Lone Star Park (Horse Racing) for up to 25 people.  YEAH!  This will be really fun and it’s something that both our families enjoy.

Second prize (What I am buying the shirt for) Round trip charter airfare, and 2 tickets to the Iowa State Football game in October.  WOW..  This will be so much fun.!!  I’m actually pretty excited about this.  I’m not sure on the details of this one yet, but I would assume we would fly up, head to the game and then fly home the same day.

So overall Friday night was pretty fun and the auction was for a good cause.

Let football season begin!

Grocery Shopping – Fun or Not?

There are times when I love going grocery shopping and then there are times it’s not really fun!  I probably should classify that as a drag, boring or potential time waster. But it’s a necessary thing to do.  We all need groceries, toiletries, food, etc. unless you are extremely wealthy and can afford someone to do the shopping for you.  I for one am not that wealthy.  What I’m trying to say is that at times I love to shop.

Part of the reason I like to shop is that most grocery stores keep the same general layout.  Some change little things but for the most part they stay the same, which makes it easier to memorize where everything is.  Our grocery store is this way.  The only thing that has changed in the last 2 years is that they removed the photo area.  (Guess it wasn’t making money)  For instance our grocery store.  You walk in the right side (the best side) and you have Soaps and makeup, medicines, acne creams, vitamins, toilet paper, tooth brushes, then along the back and far side you have milk, eggs, meats and cheeses then you get to the veggies.  Then all of the other boxed goods are all on the inside aisles.  (I’m sure you can figure out whats left with me itemizing it :)   )  This makes it fun as I know where almost “everything” is.

Do you like to go grocery shopping?

Weekend Wrap-up

So Friday night started off pretty good, we met up with some friends for dinner for  my wife’s birthday.  After that we went back to there place to see their new puppy.  They have a 9 week old doberman puppy.  They my friend busted out some 80’s guitar hero.  First i must say I’m not very good at all, but I actually made it through some songs on easy (of course).  So that was a lot fun and then it was 10:15p already so we took off and headed home.

Saturday came way too early and I was off to soccer practice.  Let me tell you how hot it really was.  After 2 hours I was done.  I was over heated, hot, and not feeling well.  Yet we still had another hour left.  Ugh.. After practice I jammed home in my SUV which the A/C wasn’t working so that was fun.  Pretty much the rest of the day was useless from heat exhaustion.

Today after church we came home and got ready and headed over to our friends house for a pool party.  This was our first time over since they had their pool built.  We swam a couple of times and then we grilled out some hamburger and hot dogs.  It was a lot of fun.  Sun, yep got plenty of that too, but didn’t burn that bad.  lol

Now just getting ready for another busy work week and watching some TV.
