Distraught Man Kills Family over Finances

This is truly sad.  A man from Los Angeles, shot and killed his wife, three sons, mother-in-law and then himself.

Snippet of Article:

It’s “a very tragic scene, total devastation inside this home,” Deputy Chief Michael Moore told reporters at a news conference. “Inside the home, officers discovered six bodies, all belonging to the family that lived at this location.”

It really is sad that he felt this was the way out and all would be better this way.  I’m sure he is not the only one having financial issues with the way the market is crashing and all the other “Bailout” plans and banks falling down, etc. etc.

It’s Friday Morning

How is your Friday?  Of course some that read this, browse over or just drop by might be in your evening time.  Welcome.  I can’t tell you how glad I am that it is Friday.  Monday started off a horrible week.  lol.  I ended up working 8am to 10pm Monday due to some sql server upgrades and emergency updates.  It wasn’t really fun but I can’t help that a drive or 2 went nuts.  Anyways, I’m sitting at work and for the first time in a long time, I’m just reading the paper and checking out some news articles, and mainly checking out the Fry’s ad to see if there are any good deals this weekend.  Browsing through the classifieds to check out the car deals, Harley parts and pet goods.  Sports, well I will just check online for those.

Here are some of today’s front page headlines:

  • Making their points, politely [debate coverage]
  • Leaders more optimistic that House will back bailout today [Our governments financial crisis]
  • Legal dispute may have broad effect on drilling [Grand Prairie, TX - Natural Gas drilling]
  • HPV vaccine rule riles immigration advocates [Some Federal Mandate]

And a couple more, and not that you are really interested in them, but since I’m bored and work is going to get busy shortly I figured I would add those in there to kill some time and why not!

This weekend, well no major plans really, just some work around the house and a soccer game to coach.  I might head to the movies Saturday night, not sure yet.

Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Have a good Friday..!!!

What can Love do

I think this is crazy.  This teen who is 18 years old, tried to off his mother so he could sell some things and pay for his finance (21) to get breast augmentation.  Seriously?  I’m not really sure what this kid was thinking.  So Nikita Weis offered two men $7,000 to kill his mom. LOL..  He planned on selling his mothers car and to empty all her bank accounts so his 21 year old girl could get some fake boobs.

But the best part, his mom (42) foiled the whole thing when one of the men entered her home and she set off her car’s panic alarm and scared off the intruder.  The son was home at the time and his girlfriend was waiting outside of the house during the break in.  (awesome!!!)  So the teen and his girl were booked on conspiracy to commit murder and they mentioned that there were going to bury the body in New Mexico or Arizona or some remote location. lol

Friday Local Shorts (3)

It’s been a busy week and haven’t had much time to write much so I thought I would do some local shorts for some things that are going on around the area I live.

Irving: In a tragic accident two 18 year old men were cruising along at a high rate of speed on their motorcycles lost control and struck the wall of the overpass they were on and was thrown over and his friend behind him collided with him and was thrown over as well.  Smith was pronounced dead at the scene and Wright was taken to the hospital and later died due to his injuries.

Fort Worth: A man died after he was found on I-30 in Fort Worth last night.  Indications show that he was struck by a car, however there are no witnesses.

Arlington: I think this is bad…  A 23 year old Arlington man (Parks) was sentenced to 10 years PROBATION for the death of a teenager and causing serious injury of during a 2007 DWI collision.  I’m sorry WHAT, Probation only?  Oh but wait, the judge ordered him to 6 months in jail and the probation..  Come on people.  This guy drove drunk and killed someone and gets only 6 months..  Parks Blood-Alcohol level was .15 (almost twice legal limit) – So sad..

NFL – Cowboys: Ok I’m not really a fan but they start the NFL season this Sunday in Cleveland against the Browns.  Go Seahawks..!!!  lol – see I told you I wasn’t a cowboys fan and I can still live here and still cheer for the Seahawks!!!…  =)

Watch out While Hiking

Back in my home state (Washington) last weekend a pretty tragic accident happened.  One boy (14) and one adult were out bear hunting.  And before I go on, I will just state for the record that there is no law against a 14 year old that hunts and it is legal in this area for bear hunting.

Now Pamela Almli (54) was hiking with a friend around 10:30am last Saturday.  Pamela stopped on the trail (which according to the reports was a very popular hiking area) and bent over to put something into her backpack.  Then this accident took place.  The 14 year old boy mistakenly thought it was a bear and fired a fatal shot.

I can’t imagine what both families are feeling or thinking right now.
Just a horrible accident.

Possible Gang Ties

Checking in to see if there was any new info about the shooting up in Kent, Washington that was by the Kent Cornucopia Days Festival.

Now the Kent Police are looking into possible gang ties for the shooting.  They had another incident where they found another young man shot in the neck in Renton which they think he was shot while trying to retaliate for the earlier shooting..  Just crazy..  Renton is my old home town..!!!

Here is part of the article:

“There were about 20 people, plus 10 to 15 customers in there when the shooting happened, so it was a pretty busy place at that moment,” Kent police spokesman Paul Peterson said.

About two hours later, at 9:40 p.m., an 18-year-old man stumbled into a convenience store parking lot near the Renton Transit Center and collapsed from a gunshot wound to the neck, Renton police said.

Driving Crazy

Some days around here I have to wonder how people got their drivers license. People tend to float, speed, drive erratic, etc. It’s pretty crazy. Now, some days traffic is nice and just flows along without any issues. Now Fridays are something else all together. Fridays can either be mellow or look like something was just unleashed from hell or somewhere in between.

In fact just the other day on the morning commute some guy just about side swiped me without even looking. Maybe with all the craziness I should look into some cheap life insurance so my family is protected in case one day someone takes me out. lol :) A good point to bring up is the Fort Worth Police chase last night that nbc5 happen to cover watching this guy rip up and down residential neighborhoods at least at 60 mph. Thank goodness no one got hurt on that chase.

Now I’m sure this could differ from city to city, but in all seriousness there are times I wonder why everyone is in such a hurry that they have to do 75+ and weave in and out of everyone.

Friday Local Shorts

American Airlines is now charging for all checked luggage on their flights. Something like $15 for the first bad and $25 for the second. I understand that they are losing money because of fuel prices, but aren’t we all?

I think this could be a recipe for disaster. It really could be, travelers might stop flying cause the prices are through the roof. Maybe not. Maybe this is what American Airlines thinks will make the airline profitable. For me this and the fare increases will probably delay our summer trip to see the family in Seattle, cause it’s too expensive.

Gas in Grand Prairie - A local gas station was giving away 200 prepaid $40 gas cards yesterday. But was it really worth the wait in line? For this one local woman, she showed up at 4am and when the promotion started she was one of the first 10 to get the cards. Wow 6-7 hours really? for less than a tankful of gas? I think it’s great they are doing it, but even though the gas prices are hovering around $4 per gallon here, I think 6-7 hours of my time is worth more than sitting waiting for a prepaid card worth $40.

Stars - Well they didn’t make the cut. Better luck next year. (see that is short :) )

And not so local:
Colorado – Huge tornado rips up some towns and kills 1. If you haven’t seen the video your local news or CNN or pretty much anyone has, you should watch it. It’s crazy… Click the CNN link.
