I know I have said it before

But it’s really hard to get into a routine and start working out. Back in January I went at least every Wednesday and got at least 1 hour in. And I occasionally play indoor soccer and coach, so it’s not like I’m just sitting around right? Maybe I need Orovo detox to jump start things.

I really think it’s all about eating right and being diligent in exercise. Yes I know it’s easier said than done. So my goal for the rest of this month (May) is to go at least 3-4 times. That would be a good start for me. I already coach soccer 3 times per week and play soccer at least once, so I think that would be a good start. Now if I can just cut out the Pepsi and the Monster drinks, I bet I would really jump start this..

Gas Prices Stink

I can’t believe how fast gas is moving up and up.

Back in March I thought the prices were getting pretty high around here but here are the last 2 days worth of prices from a gas station next to the highway.

4-21:
Reg. Unleaded $3.48/gallon
Middle Unleaded $3.63/gallon
Super Unleaded $3.78/gallon

4-22:
Reg. Unleaded $3.51/gallon
Middle Unleaded $3.66/gallon
Super Unleaded $3.81/gallon

Now I’m sure that some people that read this would be like, wow that is cheap or is cheaper than my area, and I get that. But in the past 5 years I have been in Texas it has NEVER been this high. Simply outrageous!!!

I’m going to key an eye on this and see how well it fluctuates this week and will report back.

Treasure Hunt - Can I make it?

I just found out that I have a chance to be in an online treasure hunt thanks to Jewelelegance.com.

Looks like jewelry is the key in this hunt and I could use some earrings, diamond rings or other jewelry. After I post this I will hopefully get my entry into the treasure hunt and then I will get to start on Monday. These blogging contests are so much fun! I hope it all goes well.

Emerald Downs - Horse Workout Morning

So this morning I was able to join my family at Emerald Downs Horse Racing Track to watch 3 of his horses workout. It was fun to be back at the track. In Grand Prairie Lone Star Park usually is open from April to July for Thoroughbreds so it’s been awhile since I have been back to the track.

Usually we go every opening night at Lone Star Park, but it was last Thursday which I was in Seattle so I couldn’t go and Emerald Downs hasn’t opened yet.

Here in the yellow cap is one of my uncles horses:
Horse Training

After watching the 3 horses (not the 3 above) we went up to the trainers barn (about 15min away) to see the new Philly. RC Gangster (Uncles Horse) had a baby 6 days ago. She was so soft and fluffy. he he…

Here is a picture of mom and baby:

Looking forward to getting back and heading out to Lone Star Park for some good racing!

More Basketball - Final Four

A few more teams I was watching tonight or should I say following..
UT-Arlington - Mainly cause they were quite the underdog and a local team to me.
North Carolina- They seem to be good every year and I have followed them for a number of years.. and
Oregon.

UT-Arlington  just lost to Memphis 87-63..  Not really close, sorry guys…
Oregon is also out with a loss 76-69 to Mississippi St. and
North Carolina putting a whipping on Mt. St. Mary’s 113-74

I know there were some upsets tonight but I’m too lazy too check them out, lol…

And the current game just finished Clemson vs. Villanova
This was a seed upset:  Seed 5 Clemson lost to seed 12 Villanova 75-69…

Sooners Basketball

Seeded 6th Oklahoma, wins out over Saint Joseph’s 72-64 to advance to the next round in the Final Four 1st round…

Weekend Camping Trip

This last weekend we decided to dust off the camping equipment and head over to the state park just to get away for the weekend.  No computers, constant cell phone usage, etc.  Just some good old sitting around playing games and doing some small hikes.  It was a blast.  However, the forecast for the pending tempeture drop was a little more than we anticipated.

Friday night we got everything set up and had some dinner, it was rather warm for 11pm in the tent so we didn’t get all the blankets, out, etc.  By 630am I don’t think I even slept for more than 30 minutes at a time and at a few other times I woke up freezing.   So we got prepared for Saturday night, and layered up and actually had a pretty good nights sleep in the tent, even though the temps dropped to 46 that morning.

Here are a couple photo’s from the trip:

Funeral and a Family

Here is a funny story that I have to mention some parts of.  A good friend of mine has a extremely distant family and recently he learned that his cousin had died from a drug overdose.  So he decided to head up to the funeral as it was his family but like I said very distant.  So we will skip the small things and move along to the funeral.  They had decided to have her cremated but wanted to have a service for her.  As they get to the gather place (not sure where they had it) my friend walks in and is floored by what happens next.

The husband of the deceased is wearing ragged jeans, a baseball hat and a t-shirt with a marijuana leaf on it.. (hmm how ironic, lets wear a marijuana shirt to a funeral of your wife who died from drug overdose, nice).  Then the daughter was carrying a cardboard box up to the front of this place and you hear a voice from the back of the room, “Ashley take your mom out of the god damn box”

Wow I’m surprised my friend made it through this one.  I would have been cracking up the entire time.  And you may not laugh like we did when we heard this in person, but I can only imagine being in this scenario listening to the talking and wearing drug related items to a drug overdose.

2008 Iditarod Champ

Mr. Lance Mackey does it again.  Back to back wins of the Iditarod dog race in Alaska.  According to sources, he finished the race in 9 days, 11 hours, 46 minutes and 48 seconds and he finished the race with 11 of the original 16 dogs he started with.

I really wanted to watch the live finish but it was at 546am my time and I was still in bed trying to wake up.
And it looks like Jeff King finished 2nd about 1 hour and 20 minutes after Mackey and it looks like he had 14 dogs.

One of these years I’m going to fly up there and watch parts of this in person…
