Stopped for a Visit

On the way home from my wife’s college homecoming (it was the 100th) we decided to take a small detour for a couple of hours to visit Turner falls.  I have never been there before but have driven past it and seen it from the observation point.  Well this day did not disappoint.  It was a beautiful day.

Here is one shot of it:

We heard a rattlesnake but never saw it which I think is a good thing.  The people behind us coming up the trail did see it and got a picture of it.  The boys had fun and so did we.  We really didn’t want to leave.

We will have to make some plans to go back up there in the future.

Backyard Wishin'

Last weekend we were running around picking up some things for the house after an awesome church service and then lunch at one of our favorite places.  We walked through the home and garden section (we always like to do that) checking out all the cool stuff and talk about what would be awesome to have for our house.  Well we ran across a bunch of outdoor dining sets that looked really nice. We pondered for a bit on what we wanted to do and continued our shopping.

Now that I think about it, the backyard is the last thing we really put money into.  It’s the last thing any of our friends or guests see or visit, so it’s the last to get any type of attention.  One of these days though I’m going to change it so we can spend more time out back in the nice weather then on the inside (except of course when it’s over 100 out)

More Clouds [again]

I love clouds.  I cannot help it.  I love to take pictures of different angles of the clouds, etc.  I grab a couple shots the other morning and I’m going to post them now.  Also that afternoon in traffic I saw this bright pink almost candy looking paint job (reminds me of my lowrider days) and decided to snap a picture of that as well.

Wild Fires

They were all over the place yesterday in Texas and Oklahoma.  With the wind so bad it was blowing smoke over the entire Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex last night.

Here are a couple pictures I snapped of the Sun when I got home last night:

A little of this and that

A little bit ago I was talking about our overgrown weeds in our lawn.  Last night I finally had a chance to go to war on them.  I was only able to tackle the front and side of the yard but it’s progress right.  Got them all mowed down and was able to finally get some weed killer and fertilizer on the grass.  So hopefully we will see some results soon.  Not to mention that it’s about that time of year where if we do not get any rain, I will have to start watering the lawn, ack..  We really need a sprinkler system.  Just wish they didn’t cost so much!

The MLS kicks off tomorrow night.  I’m pretty excited about the MLS this year.  Not just because it’s soccer and I love soccer, BUT my home town has a team this year and I’m excited for them.  Trust me if I still lived in Seattle I would be at that home opener/season opener tomorrow night.  I hope they do well this year and talk has it that they may make it to the playoffs this year.  Seattle Sounders FC baby.  My other favorite team is FC Dallas.  Pretty much since I live in the area and have been going to games the last couple of years.  And of course in May Seattle will be coming to Dallas so I am GOING to this game, for sure!  And I’m sure I will go to some other ones as well.  So the season kicks off tomorrow night with Seattle Sounders FC hosting the New York Red Bulls and then the rest of the teams start off this weekend.  Go Sounders..!!!

We have been following the Iditarod this last 9-10 days and it’s been pretty exciting.  I was checking the updates and live GPS they have this year and it was showing what we figured would happen a few days ago.  Looks like Lance Mackey will win the Iditarod this year.  A couple hours ago he left White Mountain after a mandatory 8 hour layover/rest period and is on his way to Nome.  Unless something MAJOR happens he pretty much has this victory wrapped up.  The second and third place looks to be a pretty close one and they are into White Mountain checkpoint less than 30 minutes of each other.  Sebastian Schnuelle checked in with 14 dogs and John Baker with only 10.  It might be a good race for second later tonight.

I’m not sure it will happen, but we would love to fly up there next year for the ceremonial start and re-start of the race.  Maybe even meet a couple of mushers but I’m sure they are far too busy for that.  Good luck Lance and the world will see you in a few short hours under the arch.

Sunday Sunset

Like always I happen to take some nonsense, useless pictures from time to time, and then I take some that actually count.  Well at least count to me..

Last night I was taking a picture of our tree that is growing up since we first planted it a couple of years ago and it finally has enough leaves on it.  Here is a picture of our baby tree and a couple of the sunset that followed shortly after.
