Soccer Fall Season

Well the Fall season came to an end last Sunday.  We finished up with 2 wins and 10 losses and 0 Ties.  Please remember that this is our first season playing competitive and we are also playing up 1 age bracket.  So as the fall season closes, we have a 2 weekend break from games and we can now practice hard for an upcoming tournament.

When the spring season arrives (In march I believe) they will split up the one huge division we are in and we will be placed in division 2 essentially.  I believe with a couple tournaments and our continued practice that we will have a better season in the spring time than we did in the fall.

League Game #2 – Not so sure

Well last Sunday we had our #2 league game and well the results were pretty much the same as Saturdays game. [Lost 0-4] – The girls are getting better every game, but there are some things they just don’t seem to retain in their memory.  The drawback to that is it’s one of the most important aspects of the game.  And it doesn’t help that we had a huge rain storm that cancelled practice last night, so again, only 1 practice this week, unless it rains again tomorrow (which I don’t think it’s supposed to).

So I hope they all come ready to practice really hard tomorrow to prepare for this coming weekend’s game.

0-2-0

League Play – Game #1 Down and Out

The game started great.  A few small mistakes but nothing major.  You head into half time 0-0 and in good shape with the other team slowing down and then what happens..  Well I wish I knew.  I lost track but I think we lost 0-4 or 0-5 today.  I’m just not sure how that can really happen  0-0 at halftime and then completely forget what we just talked about.

I guess we will see what happens tomorrow.  We have game #2 of league play in the hotter part of the day, so it should be interesting.  I think the worst part of it all is that we could have beaten this without a doubt…

Guess we have a lot to work on this week at practice and I can say that without even watching the game tomorrow.  On a brighter note.  We got a new player this week to add to the team and she played most of the game and is pretty good.  Hope we can develop her play more.

More Friday Local Shorts

Here is another edition of some local short news stories from around my area!

Fort Worth:
Pier 1 is saying that they are going to close 20 to 25 stores by year end.  However the lucky people in the Dallas, Fort Worth Metroplex are saved as they said they shouldn’t be closing any of those stores.

DFW Airport:
Watch what your doing or else you might have your arm ran over by a forklift!  They airlifted him to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Grand Prairie:
What happens when you try to cover up something suspicious and don’t want anyone to find out about it?  You get stopped for a traffic violation and then the cops see suspicious package and it turns out to be ammonia (mainly used for meth (methamphetamine).  I guess they wont be dealing meth till they get some more.

Fort Worth:
Police got lucky looking for narcotics just to find out that the house they raided was running a pirating ring.  Police say they counted 113 burners, 3800 blank cd’s, 7000 blank dvd’s.  They were capable of producing 6700 discs per hour. — Link: Star-Telegram

The Season Starts

Well the season starts today.
North Texas Competitive Girls Soccer.

You can hold tryouts at any time from July 1st to the 10th.

So tonight is our first night as a new competitive team.  I really don’t think we did enough recruiting or advertising, but we will see what happens.

If no new girls show up then we might have to combine teams and I don’t think the parents really want to do that, but on the flip side I don’t want to lose the team and then they all don’t get to play.  Not to mention we have all really worked hard the last 9 months to get ready for today!

So I’m about to leave work and head on out to the field…

Thursday Storms

So yesterday morning we had some pretty good storms blow there through.  The unfortunate part was that the storms were moving Southeast and I had drive Northwest.  So the entire drive I was heading into this downpour or rain and high winds.

Although it added about 15 minutes to the commute it wasn’t all that bad.  I like storms, so it didn’t bother me at all.

I actually wish I had my camera or video camera cause it was pretty crazy.  It was pretty light and then a couple minutes later it turned dark as night.  There was so much lightning I thought I was a pop star on the red carpet at one point.  lol

I’m sure most of our storms will not be severe (Tornados and Hail) but you never know.  I think we are supposed to dry out now for a few days..
