Jury Duty

So this morning I had to show up and check in by 8am to serve as a juror.  The last time I had to do this was back say about 16-17 years ago in Seattle.  I made a joke to a co-worker about 1 1/2 months ago as he got called up to serve on a jury panel, and I told him, “thank goodness I haven’t been called to serve since I moved to Texas.”  Sure enough, 2 weeks after that fateful conversation, I get a summons in the mail “Sweet”

So this morning dragged on and on.  They had us all in there like sardines in a can.  I believe she mentioned something about 750 people but only 700 chairs.  It was like sitting on the worst airline with the worst seating.

So I get early so I don’t have to stand, and sit and listen.  About 11ish she just calls a group of 70 to sit in these black numbered chairs.  Part of me was like “OK this is it, I will get picked for this one”  No pick, so all the jurors move to these black chairs and next thing the bailiff said.. “Fill out this questionnaire and then you will be reporting to court ________ blah-blah_______ at 9:00 am tomorrow morning.  LOL, you should have heard the moaning and groaning on that one.  At that point I was happy to be NOT PICKED.  Then she said all of the next group of names make your way to the back of the room and you will be dismissed..  AWESOME!!!

So I received my whole $6 for my close to 5 hours of service sitting there.  Then I was free…………..
