Getting Ready to see the Family

Well 18 days now till I get to go home for the holidays.  I’m looking forward to seeing my family.  The last time I saw my parents was back in April when my mother had her surgery (which she is doing awesome by the way).  And the last time my wife was back in Seattle was almost 1.5 years ago.  We both are looking forward to seeing friends and family members that we haven’t seen in a really long time.

Time will start to go by fast and I guess we better get out the Samsonite luggage and start the packing process.  This time of year it’s hard to pack as Seattle is cold, damp, more cold, etc.  Not what we are used to in Arlington.

Another bonus this year is my dad is close to or near to the finish of his ‘34 Ford Truck.  I’m hoping it will be done by the time I get there so I can drive it.  He has had it my whole life and just now has had the time and money to get it back in running order.

I Would like to visit my Cousin

I’m sure she would love some company.  I usually get to see my cousins once or twice per year.  Mainly at holidays.  The last two Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays we never flew home so it’s been some time since I have seen them.

She lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.  So one thing we could do is get a hotel in las vegas or we probably could just stay with her.  Although she lives out of the Vegas strip area, it would be free accommodations.  But since the holidays are coming up and we are actually going to Seattle this year, maybe we can get something planned for the spring time.  Not to mention that Leslie has only been there via the airport and never to any of the big casinos.

Birthdays and an Anniversary

May, June and July for us seem to have a bunch of birthdays and an anniversary or two.  The bad part is most of the family is spread across the US so it’s pretty hard to see one another every year for these events.  But we always remember everyone during this time.  If we ever have a birthday party we always like to send out invitations even to our remote family members so they don’t feel left out.

After thinking about it, there are tons of invitations out there for all sorts of activities and parties, etc.  Let’s list a few here, Birthday, Graduation, Party, Wedding, Corporate Events, Baby Showers, Baptism, and Quinceanera invitations. Of course there are many more but that is a good list to start with.

So it all started off with my birthday, my grandmother in-laws birthday, my parents anniversary, my wife’s birthday, our anniversary and we will finish this off with my mom’s birthday in July.  So like I said, plenty of parties to get figured out and get some invites out for so we can PARTY..!!!

A look into the past

Last week in an effort to be better organized I started to go through a bunch of old pictures that we had in the closet. As I was going through all of them (there were tons) it brought back memories of the past youthful years. Now I don’t have all my youth pictures but the ones I do, let the memories fly by.

So after going back in time, I actually laughed at a bunch of goofy pictures. Saw some of my high school ones where I really should have had some sort of acne treatment. And a bunch from right out of high school in my low-rider/mini-truck days. And of course as time and technology move forward, the pictures moved from paper to digital. I think I went all digital back in 2001 but that’s a different story.

It was really good to see the old photos of the family and friends. Some that are still here and some that are gone. One of these days I really need to get these all into digital format so they will last quite awhile longer. We have also thought about a fire safe so just in case something horrible happens, we can preserve our memories via photos.

Summer Travel Time

Almost every summer Leslie and I head back up to Seattle (My home town) to visit family and friends. And almost every time we travel, regardless where something within the family happens. So this summer we are starting to make our plans for some traveling.

Now this summer and probably every summer from now on prices will being going up and up and up. So right now the decision is being made based on costs versus happy travel time. Based on the prices creeping upward and family health and emergencies, we might look into travel insurance for our trip this year.

That way if something does happen or something comes up, it’s not a total loss if you know what I mean…
