Finally Some Real Pizza

Friday I got an email from my support group (North Texas Gluten Intolerance Group) about this new place in Fort Worth that actually had Gluten Free Pizza.  When I saw this email I did a double take.  I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.  The email had a video from a local news paper that talked about this.  So I had to see it to believe it.

Saturday night my wife and I ventured down to Fort Worth.  And honestly this was our first time eating downtown and walking around and it was a lot of fun.  So we went to Uno’s Chicago Grill.  And I ordered the Gluten Free Pepperoni Pizza.

When it first came out I was like wow, this looks like really pizza.  Leslie picks up a slice to try it and as surprised as well.  So I pick it up and try it and wow..  Holy Cow, I couldn’t believe it.  It tasted like real pizza.  It was thin crust but I wasn’t complaining.  It tasted so good I asked my wife a joke and asked her if she thought they maybe screwed up the order since it tasted so good.  wow…  The first real pizza I have had in over 2 years.

I cannot wait to go back.  And I highly suggest it.  In fact I think I will be going back in a couple of weeks.

They also have other items on their Gluten Free menu.  Go check it out.

Finally Pizza

Last weekend (Thanksgiving) we were in Oklahoma at my wife parents and Leslie and her mom stopped by this store by Norman, OK and bought me some gluten free foods.  So tonight I prepared the pizza crusts they bought me.

I was diagnosed back in January 2007 with Celiac Disease.  So over the past almost two years I have tried a few different pizza styles.  But tonight was different. Rustic Crust makes a gluten free pizza crust (Napoli Herb) and I loaded it up with some pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and some Canadian bacon.  I have to say it was really good.  And I had to blog about it in case others out there cannot find a good gluten free pizza solution.

Holiday Food Attacks

With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching that can only mean one thing..  FOOD..!!  Yes with a double dose of Holiday foods can attack you from all sides.  So you have to watch out.  Then the day after Thanksgiving you have to start working out, drop a diet pill, and slow down the eating for a few weeks to catch up before the onslaught of Christmas FOOD..!!!

I’m really looking forward to having some turkey.  And it’s only 2 weeks away.  The desserts however I’m thankful I cannot eat, cause those really add to your stomach and then you end up in a food coma, LOL..

But I love this time of year and looking forward to seeing some family I haven’t seen in a long time next week, and be able to somewhat have 4 days off..  (I’m always on call)

Are you all ready for the thanksgiving weekend coming up?
