Upgraded Risk and Tornado Watch

Tornado Watch #311 was just issued for our area
http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/ww0311.html

 Tornado Watch #311 states this:
TORNADOES…HAIL TO 3.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER…THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 80 MPH…AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

DISCUSSION…VERY UNSTABLE AIR MASS WITH MLCAPES AOA 3000 J/KG AND LITTLE REMAINING INHIBITION ARE IN PLACE AHEAD OF COLD FRONT ACROSS NRN TX/SRN OK.  THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP RAPIDLY DURING THE AFTERNOON ALONG/AHEAD OF COLD FRONT AND THE DRY LINE EXTENDING SWD IN NRN TX.  MDT/STG DEEP LAYER SHEAR WILL SUPPORT SUPERCELLS INCLUDING THREAT OF VERY LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES.

Earlier this morning the chance of severe weather was a slight risk and it was upgraded to a moderate risk this afternoon.

Tonight’s Storm

Well I thought at one time we were going to lose a window. The hail was coming down so hard and fast I couldn’t believe it. I would say Dime to Marble size hail. Our street turned into a complete river.

I don’t think any of my pictures turned out but will check them out later and see what they look like and post them.

Earlier in the night there was a tornado warning out west by Mineral Wells and Weatherford. Spotters did confirm a touchdown out by Aledo, tx.

Our Sirens went off but not sure why as there was no warning. But always exciting to hear.

Meso Disc. #651 - Severe Thunderstorm Watch #204

Currently there is a Mesoscale Discussion for our area and Oklahoma for possible severe weather starting in the next few hours.  It is stating that a band of thunderstorms is expected to develop.  Large Hail and Damaging wind gusts may occur and a watch may be required.

While reading the Meso Discussion I got a text message about a Severe Thunderstorm Watch #204 for our area from 3:00pm till 10:00pm tonight.  The watch mentions possible hail to 2 inches and thunderstorm gusts to 70mph and of course dangerous lightning.

TORNADOES…HAIL TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER…THUNDERSTORM WIND

Between the tornado watch issued earlier and this one, we are on the fence. Local media states our turn will come later tonight..

Just have to keep watching..

Mesoscale Discussion 543

http://spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md0543.html

Looks like we will be getting a tornado watch here pretty soon…
Here is some of the discussion:

STORMS ARE INCREASING ACROSS PARTS OF N TX AND INTO ADJACENT SERN OK
WITHIN ENVIRONMENT FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELLS. NEW TORNADO WATCH WILL
LIKELY BE REQUIRED.

MOIST/UNSTABLE AIRMASS IS EVIDENT ALONG AND JUST AHEAD OF NE TO
SW-ORIENTED DRYLINE EXTENDING FROM CENTRAL OK SWWD INTO WRN N TX.
FURTHER E…PERSISTENT CLOUD COVER ACROSS PARTS OF N CENTRAL AND
NERN TX AND INTO SERN OK HAS HINDERED BOUNDARY-LAYER
HEATING/DESTABILIZATION TO SOME DEGREE. HOWEVER…AS SLY LOW-LEVEL
FLOW INCREASES OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS…FURTHER DESTABILIZATION
ATOP THE CLOUDY BOUNDARY LAYER IS EXPECTED.

Earlier non-official reports indicated 4″+ (Softball Size) Hail South of Witchita Falls Earlier.
Tonight could still prove to be interesting…

Mesoscale Discussion 537

Looks like there is a discussion up for our area for late morning early afternoon.
They are uncertain this will produce a watch but we will have to wait and see..

Link to Discussion: http://spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md0537.html

Here is the first part of the discussion:
TSTMS /INITIALLY ELEVATED/ MAY INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY
LATE THIS MORNING INTO AFTERNOON.  INITIALLY LARGE HAIL WOULD BE THE
PRIMARY HAZARD.  BUT AS STORMS BECOME MORE SURFACE-BASED…AN
ATTENDANT THREAT OF TORNADOES AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL CONCURRENTLY
INCREASE.  THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY AS TO WHETHER DEVELOPING
STORMS WILL BECOME SUSTAINED…NECESSITATING A WW THIS MORNING.  IT
DOES APPEAR THAT A WW WILL LIKELY BE REQUIRED AT SOME POINT LATER
   TODAY.

They havent updated the Hazardous outlook since this morning so that stays the same
