Mr. Lance Mackey does it again. Back to back wins of the Iditarod dog race in Alaska. According to sources, he finished the race in 9 days, 11 hours, 46 minutes and 48 seconds and he finished the race with 11 of the original 16 dogs he started with.
I really wanted to watch the live finish but it was at 546am my time and I was still in bed trying to wake up.
And it looks like Jeff King finished 2nd about 1 hour and 20 minutes after Mackey and it looks like he had 14 dogs.
One of these years I’m going to fly up there and watch parts of this in person…
The last time I checked the posted standings, Mitch Seavey left the Takotna check point in first place. Right on his heels is Hugh Neff who also left Takotna shortly behind Mitch.
The top 5 as it sits now:
Mitch Seavey
Hugh Neff
Lance Mackey
Jeff King
Kjetil Backen
I’m personally cheering on Backen this year.
Just wish I was up there to personally experience the race, but one day I will see some of it in person..
More later…
Well another year has gone by and it’s time for another 1,150 mile sled race across Alaska. Every year we like to watch and follow along the best we can in this very tough race. I’m sure I will be updating as the race progresses but tomorrow is the cerimonail start of the race in Anchorage. The restart will take place on March 2nd.
Looking forward to another great race..
