Back in the Day

Way back like right after graduation days, a couple friends that I had just met were starting to get into mini-trucks, later to be known as lowriders, etc.  So they got me hooked and I was out buying my S10.  My friend Brett had the S15 (GMC) equivalent so I figured it would be good since he knew some things about it already.  So after getting the S10 and buying some low profile wheels, we dropped the sucker on the ground.  We used some drop spindles and then we cut the coils as well.  Some people use coilovers to help in the stabilization.

Well I got the truck in 1989 and I just sold it this last April.  Almost 20 years I owned this truck.  Kind of miss it.  Over the years it had a convertible top, shaved door handles, custom front end work, various paint jobs, etc.

It was some good ole times…

Here are a couple pictures:

A look into the past

Last week in an effort to be better organized I started to go through a bunch of old pictures that we had in the closet. As I was going through all of them (there were tons) it brought back memories of the past youthful years. Now I don’t have all my youth pictures but the ones I do, let the memories fly by.

So after going back in time, I actually laughed at a bunch of goofy pictures. Saw some of my high school ones where I really should have had some sort of acne treatment. And a bunch from right out of high school in my low-rider/mini-truck days. And of course as time and technology move forward, the pictures moved from paper to digital. I think I went all digital back in 2001 but that’s a different story.

It was really good to see the old photos of the family and friends. Some that are still here and some that are gone. One of these days I really need to get these all into digital format so they will last quite awhile longer. We have also thought about a fire safe so just in case something horrible happens, we can preserve our memories via photos.

Where do you roll?

Back in the day I used to roll with some mini-truck and lowrider clubs. It was a lot of fun. We would travel every weekend to different cities to show off our rides and sometimes we actually set up a huge elaborate display with mirrors and ropes. We would clean our vehicles in and out. Those were some fun days.

Now that I’m older there are other clubs and hobbies that could be fun to check out. They have dog clubs, scale model clubs, weather and chess clubs, there are so many. Wait here is one my dad would love, a wine club. :)

Are you involved in any type of club? I would like to hear about it….
