Short and Slow, How was Yours?

Wow it’s Sunday night already.  Another weekend down.  This weekend seemed to move really slow.  Wait..  Maybe that’s cause I didn’t do a thing today but just sit here all day long.

OK, so it started off yesterday with some soccer practice.  That was a fun 2 hours in the sun.  Then I helped my wife get her classroom ready for the kiddo’s that start tomorrow.  I finished up the night watching Street Kings, which I have to say was a really good movie.

This morning I played around with mazzie (our dog) and lounging around really.  I did some work around the house but not much really.  Ended up watching Coyote Ugly.  Not too bad of a movie really.  Then we watched this new DVD I got.  David Crowder Band Remedy DVD + CD..  That was simply awesome.  Finished up the night and currently watching the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.

Now don’t get me wrong I like watching the Olympics but sometimes when they show the same sport over and over again (*cough, cough, swimming, gymnastics, diving, volleyball) it gets old quick.

So did you all have a good weekend?

Theater on the Wish List

I love movies.  As far back as I can remember I have loved watching movies.  Over time though movies have changed and so have the prices. (lol)  As I have grown in age and watching the technology change over the years, I have been wanting to put in a home theater.  Now a number of years ago (uh before I was married) I bought a surround sound system, a dual DVD player and a (at the time) nice 32″ TV for my 1 bedroom apartment.  It was great even though it wasn’t technically a home theater but it sure sounded like it.  I would spend most of the weekends sitting around and watching movies.

Well I have really never lost that dream of one day owning a home theater.  Now of course our current home has a room that could possibly work but it’s not really designed for a home theater.  I always mention it to Leslie but in reality home theaters are expensive.  So it might be some *time* years before I get an official room to use, but I’m not letting it stop my dreams and my love for watching movies!

Made it to the Movies

Yesterday after a long soccer practice in the sun (it was hot) we decided to clear another check list item off our huge weekend list and went to the movies.  We both really wanted to go see Wall-E.  The movie looked really good in all the trailers and adverts that gave us the little hint of what this movie would be like.

Overall the movie was pretty good.  I think I could have done away with a few of the subliminal messages I gathered from the movie, but overall it was pretty good.  I really like the animation like cars, this movie and others.

I would give it a ‘B’ if I was going to grade it.

Landscaping Project

Today we started our landscaping project.  Not really sure what we were thinking since it’s 95 out.  However Thursday night we said we were going to do it so here we are.  For starters I had soccer practice this morning so I was already in the hot sun for at least 2 hours, more like 2.5 hours.  But when I got home, Leslie had already started cleaning up the old dirt and pulling a few weeds that were still alive.

When I got home we decided to get about 1 more hour in on the flower bed before the heat really hit.  So we started working on the border stone first.  We figured that was what we needed to do.  I’m going to show a couple before pictures and a couple current pictures.  We stopped after we got the stone border done, cause it was really way to hot out.  Plus we wanted to go to the movies in the heat of the day and pick back up later tonight after the heat goes down.

Here is what we have so far:

3-Day Weekend Checklist

OK so someone asked me earlier today what I was going to do tomorrow (The 4th) and the rest of the weekend, and at the time I said, I really have no clue, probably nothing.

Well in a matter of hours I had all of Friday planned, and most of Saturday and part of Sunday.

So here is my to-do checklist: (Mostly in Order)

  • Workout Friday morning (first time in months)
  • Take Mazzie Dog to the dog park
  • Go play miniature golf with Leslie’s friends
  • Go to Fry’s (Awesome electronic store)
  • Go to Lowe’s for landscaping materials
  • Go to Dinner with more friends
  • Go to another friends house to watch a neighborhood fireworks display
  • Soccer Practice
  • Horse track to watch live horse racing or Wall-E the Movie
  • Landscape front flower bed (lots of work)
  • Church
  • Possible networking consulting assignment
  • Probably more landscaping

Wow that is a PACKED weekend…

Anyone have a crazy schedule like this or something else planned for this weekend?

Weekend Wrap-up - Last one in June

I think I pretty much took care of my to-do list this weekend.  I’m still getting over my strep throat so my energy level just isn’t quite back to normal.  So here is the list:

Updated list:

  • Coach Soccer Practice
  • “The Hulk” Movie
  • Shopping for Anniversary Present for my lovely wife
  • Work on the Mountain Bikes
  • Network Consulting at a local business
  • Wash and Clean Car

As you can see,  nothing really changed after 12 yesterday as I didn’t do another thing on my list.  I was supposed to do the consulting tonight after my normal job but soccer has gotten in the way again, lol.  Well Actually we are having tryouts this week and we have to go watch 3 girls that are on one team and might come over and join ours if we think they will fit in.

So the busy week begins.

Tonight: Soccer Scouting
Tuesday: Soccer tryouts
Wednesday: Soccer tryouts

Well that’s the start at least……..

And for you that don’t know, I do work about 45 hours a week before any of this other stuff..  :)

So glad it’s Friday

Although I didn’t do a whole lot of work this week, it still seemed like a really long week and I’m glad it’s Friday.

So it’s strangely boring here tonight.  Not much going on except the TV.  Wife is in Oklahoma for the weekend and I’m sitting here thinking about the next sentence I’m going to write in this post.  The funny thing is that what you don’t realize is the pause it took between the last sentence and this one.  It was like 10 minutes.  And you can thank plurk and twitter for that, not to mention I’m checking out new plug-ins for the blog, etc.

OK so another 15 just went by, phone calls this time..  Tomorrow I’m going to take my little brother to see “The Hulk.”  (I’m a Big Brother, Big Sisters Volunteer)  He is pretty excited to see it.  This weekend seems jammed packed so hopefully my time management skills will be top notch.

Weekend to do list:

  • Coach Soccer Practice
  • “The Hulk” Movie
  • Shopping for Anniversary Present for my lovely wife
  • Work on the Mountain Bikes
  • Network Consulting at a local business

I think I can pull this list off..  At least I hope so!

The Happening… hmmmm

The Happening…

Well It’s not happening..
I have to say that I’m pretty disappointed.

** Spoiler Alert ** [Do Not Read if you are going to watch this movie]
I will say things in this section that will give away details of the movie…

So first I have to start off by saying that I was disappointed. Like I mentioned above. I guess I didn’t realize that this movie was going to be about a mass killing by suicide due to some unknown airborne toxic put off by trees and flowers. Yes there was suspense which was pretty good, but not really scary. The pace of the movie seemed to go well. What I don’t understand is how this one person was affected and killed herself on the same property and the 3 main characters yet when they went outside they were not affected at all? What? Really? and the ending, well let’s just say this isn’t Shyamalan’s typical movie in my opinion.

So I would sum the movie up with maybe a C- and probably leaning more with a D. I’m really glad I paid the matinee cost to view this and I hope Shyamalan goes back to the way he used to direct like The Sixth Sense and The Village…

Movie Time..

For a long time now, probably years, I have always wanted my very own home theater. So when it became something to have in the home, I started out with some basics, a decent surround sound system, and a 32 inch tv. It was just me so why not, lol. (Like I said years ago)

Anyways I never had a dedicated room just for this purpose. I have always wanted, and I still have plans or maybe I should say a dreams that one day I will have a dedicated room set up for “Movie Time.” You know with some awesome recliner movie seats, a nice and huge hdtv flat screen or plasma tv, and killer surround sound system that will blow your socks off and to top it off, some elegant home theater lighting to make it look authentic.

One day that is my dream, and some day I hope it comes true.
