The last two weeks

It’s been nice to have my parents here the last two weeks.  They flew down here to meet there new grand kids.  I’m glad they were able to come since travel is so expensive these days.  Originally we were going to fly up on Thanksgiving but only 4 days.  But now we got to see them for 14 days which sure beats out 4 any day.

Now the first part of there stay I want to blame them for the weather as it was non stop cloudy and rainy.  Then the day we went to the Texas State Fair the rain stopped (but remained cloudy and cool) then a couple days later the sun reappeared until this morning.  Back to a full day of rain it looks like.  Oh well that’s OK cause we have had our fun and their trip is almost complete.

We will miss them come Saturday afternoon.  Next time will be in the Summer, most likely in June.

Memorial Storms

Back  on Memorial day weekend we went up to Oklahoma to my wife’s parents house for Friday night and Saturday night.  We went to celebrate her grandmothers birthday and mine.  But the real emphasis was on Nany.

It was a little humid that day with a couple brief spats of sprinkles.  Then during the party I kept watching these cells building off in the distance which provided (in my opinion) awesome pictures.  It was kind of hard to pay close attention to the party.  Which for me was tough cause I love storms, storm structure, etc.

Here are a few pics from that day.

Clouds are amazing

They simply are.  Weather in general is just awesome.  And before you judge that, I have a little disclaimer.  Summer in Texas where it’s 100+ for more than 2 days is not awesome.  LOL

I like watching the structure of clouds/storms as they build up.  Last night was a good example.  Now I didn’t have my camera with me for the storm that hit, I had to take the photos on my in-laws camera and have not received the pictures yet.  But I do want to post a few that I took earlier in the day.

I hope to post more later tonight or tomorrow of the big storm that came in.  Enjoy these 2 for now.

Glad the Weekend is here

Granted there is still 9 hours left in the work day, but hey, it’s Friday right?

I have a semi busy weekend planned out.  Although the rain and storms today and tonight might put some of those off.

If the rain calms down by 5ish we decided to head out to the horse races.  It will be the first live race for us this racing season.  We really enjoy going out there.

Saturday morning we will be having our last spring league soccer game (if the weather holds) and then hopefully that will be followed up by a 2-3 week break.  I think the team is burned out and they do not want to give it there all anymore.  In fact two days ago at practice it was a horrible turnout and most of them (90%) just wanted to be lazy and walk around.  If they were able to drive I would have just canceled practice since they were wasting my time.

Saturday Evening we are going out to dinner some friends from church.  It should be a lot of fun and to hang out with them.

Sunday morning is church and then in the evening community group so that will round out our weekend pretty much.

Any big plans?
What are you going to be doing?

More Cloud Shots

The last couple of days we have had some great weather for taking some cloud shots.  Now since I usually do not have time to stop and really focus on the shot you are getting drive by’s..  lol  Not to mention I don’t have a very good camera.

So Ike came close to us today.  We pretty much saw some rain and some good gusts of wind but that was pretty much it.  However down South by the coast, most not so lucky.

They canceled our soccer game today but not until we drove up there, walked to the field and got rained on.  They did cancel some games last night, so the question really is..  Why didn’t you just cancel all the games this weekend instead of some and make people drive up there this morning and waste time and gas.  Oh well..  Just had a nice day of no soccer and I got to work on the office some more and watch tons of hurricane news coverage.  Now just watching the OU Sooners play my home town University of Washington…

How is your Saturday going?  or how was your Saturday?

Morning Beauty

Right before I left this morning for work, I walked out back to water the flowers before another 100+ degree day.  (They say this will be day 12 of the last 13 for 100+)  When I got out back, the sky looked so awesome and it looked like parts of it were on fire.  So I went in and grabbed my crappy camera and snapped some shots of it.

After I left for work I was driving north and saw some cool rain clouds so I snapped a few pictures of those clouds too.  Here is one of them:

Pop-ups In the Summer

A lot of times during the summer months and really throughout various other times of the year, we get some instability and we get pop up thunderstorms.  Well yesterday they said there was a 20% chance of thunderstorms which usually mean we get nothing.  So yesterday at lunch I don’t think there was a cloud in the sky.  When I left work, I saw a pretty good sized cell far to the south so I checked the radar on my cell phone and it was pretty far away.  The closer I got to home more and more little cells were popping up and thought to myself that these were pretty close.  Got home checked radar and sure enough, this one (20% chance) was coming right at us.  Sweet..!!!  So I grabbed a few pictures of the clouds in the area and the rain approaching.
