Well I didn’t do too bad last night.  There were 6 new shooters that showed up.  Of the six I came in 3rd.   Overall out of 34 people I came in 22nd.  I’m pretty happy about that number being my first time shooting IDPA.  Now that I got some of the nerves out of the way, I now know what I need to do for practice.

It was a really fun time, although with so many shooters there was a hurry and wait period…

Here is my friend on one of the stages last night:

Tonight is it.  My first IDPA match.

Last night I went out to the range for about 45 minutes to try out my new trigger, and good thing I did.  The striker spring was a little weak and that would have not been fun during the match.  Now since I haven’t shot in a while last night was not so great but I’m going forward with tonight and just getting the first match jitters out of the way.

At least I will know what I need to work on and start practicing.  I mean I’m not going to be some expert IDPA shooter overnight that’s for sure.   I just want to do OK or well if you wish..

Well tomorrow night will be my first IDPA match.  I found a local club and a guy who I go to church with that talked me into it.  I have actually been wanting to try this for quite some time now and USPSA.  So I signed up for the new members shooting class 1 hour prior to the match and I think I have all the equipment I will need to see how bad I am for my first match.  I’m not too concerned since I have been shooting for many years, just not in a competition style shoot.

Hopefully Friday I can post another update that won’t be that bad about my first match results.

Checking in to see if there was any new info about the shooting up in Kent, Washington that was by the Kent Cornucopia Days Festival.

Now the Kent Police are looking into possible gang ties for the shooting.  They had another incident where they found another young man shot in the neck in Renton which they think he was shot while trying to retaliate for the earlier shooting..  Just crazy..  Renton is my old home town..!!!

“There were about 20 people, plus 10 to 15 customers in there when the shooting happened, so it was a pretty busy place at that moment,” Kent police spokesman Paul Peterson said.

About two hours later, at 9:40 p.m., an 18-year-old man stumbled into a convenience store parking lot near the Renton Transit Center and collapsed from a gunshot wound to the neck, Renton police said.

For about one year now, my mother decided to start a business (rather small) and go to little craft shows and festivals to sell her custom made jewelry.  So this past weekend she had a booth set up at Kent Cornucopia days.  (My Parents live in the Greater Seattle area)

I got an email from her this morning about how well she did since this was a 3 day (all weekend) show.  Then in the email she mentioned a shooting right down the street.  In the email I don’t this she was really sure what really happened.  So I was going through more email and I get a daily email from the Seattle area (I lived there for 32 years) and of course this was one of the headlines.

Here was the headline:  ‘Police search for suspect in youth’s fatal shooting’

A 17 year old was shot to death in the head going in to a local Arby’s restaurant.

Police have not ruled out that the shooting was gang related. During the argument, the gunman pulled out a handgun and fired rounds.

The teen’s identity had not been officially released Sunday morning.

Detectives ask that anyone with information contact them at 253-856-5800 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 800-CRIME-13.

However, no one from the festival was hurt or injured and my mom had a really great selling weekend!

Back on the 20th I wrote about an unrelated shooting spree in Chicago..

Well today they found 3 more dead in a home in a crime plagued neighborhood. On CNN (this article) talks more about it but the police state that these 3 deaths are not connected to other recent shootings, or deaths, or however you want to look at it.

Things seem to be out of control and maybe cause its in the mainstream news now.

Here is a little blurb:
Last week, police found five people found dead in a ransacked home. Those deaths brought the number of people shot to death in Chicago in less than a week to more than a dozen.

The latest deaths come just days after Mayor Richard Daley met with more than two dozen officials from religious groups, police, schools and social service agencies to talk about what’s causing the violence and how to stop it.

Police have stepped up patrols, put SWAT officers and specialized units on the street, and increased their fire power by using combat rifles.

Hopefully they can figure something out cause it’s getting crazy..!!!
