It’s Friday, that’s for sure. I’m thankful that it’s Friday. Looking back on this week, I cannot believe how the US men’s soccer team is playing lately. Some reason (I’m not sure how) they are still in the world cup qualifier. I guess it could be because some of the other teams are not very good. But when I was watching the Costa Rica game, wow we looked horrible. Now the Confederations Cup is moving forward and here we are sitting at 0-2. We lost to Italy 1-3 and of course Italy is the World Champions so at least we scored right? But what’s this….. Egypt beats Italy yesterday 1-0.. oh boy that makes us look really good. Also yesterday we lost to Brazil 0-3. So here we are sitting in Group B in last place with 0 points and a -5 goal differential.
Sunday we play against Egypt. I really hope these guys are resting or doing whatever they need to do to hopefully win something in this cup. Rest, take their top diet pills, swim, I don’t know. But they better figure it out. Or this will be an embarrassing Confederations cup and a more embarrassing World Cup next year.
Last weekend my soccer team went to Abilene for a soccer tournament. This was the last time this team would be the same as we are moving to a younger division and saying goodbye to the older division, so we wanted to have a last fun time together.
We really didn’t do very well as far as scoring but 2 of the games we almost won and played good. Overall this last year was slow going and now that we have a few players off of the team, we are going to change up some things and really get competitive this year. The girls only have a couple weeks till tryouts and I hope we can pick up a few more players to round out the roster.

We have been preparing for this weekend’s tournament. We thought it would be fun to have a season ending tournament. So we said what the heck and entered our team in. Most tournaments we had played this past season, yielded a minimum of 3 games. Usually one Friday night and 2 Saturday or 2 Saturday and 1 Sunday. Well this one is slightly different.
We got our schedule a couple days ago and then they changed it yesterday so we now have 3 games on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. Then if we are in the top 2 we play a fifth game Sunday afternoon.
Either way we finish up, we should all have fun this weekend.
In my quest for sandals, I’m still coming up short. I just can’t believe how difficult it can be. Well then again to be comfortable I really need size 14’s. In my adventures I see tons of women’s shoes all over the place. Just wish I had more to choose from.
So now I think I’m going to order some sandals and hope they feel OK and fit or else I will just be back to the grind of sandal shopping. Now on to soccer. I just about worn out my indoor soccer shoes. I pretty much wear them anywhere. They are so comfy. LOL. But all good things come to an end right, so I guess I better order them too so when these wear out I can have some new ones sitting at home ready to go.
Granted there is still 9 hours left in the work day, but hey, it’s Friday right?
I have a semi busy weekend planned out. Although the rain and storms today and tonight might put some of those off.
If the rain calms down by 5ish we decided to head out to the horse races. It will be the first live race for us this racing season. We really enjoy going out there.
Saturday morning we will be having our last spring league soccer game (if the weather holds) and then hopefully that will be followed up by a 2-3 week break. I think the team is burned out and they do not want to give it there all anymore. In fact two days ago at practice it was a horrible turnout and most of them (90%) just wanted to be lazy and walk around. If they were able to drive I would have just canceled practice since they were wasting my time.
Saturday Evening we are going out to dinner some friends from church. It should be a lot of fun and to hang out with them.
Sunday morning is church and then in the evening community group so that will round out our weekend pretty much.
Any big plans?
What are you going to be doing?
For some reason, lately I have been super busy. So busy in fact I haven’t even had time to write that much on my blog. So that is something I have to change in the near future. I even think I’m closing in on a full year of active blogging on this site. Must be some type of miracle.
Lately I have been working on some web sites and a friends network for his company, not to mention all the soccer that goes on. Oh and cleaning house more like a spring cleaning. I’m sure the garbage service hasn’t been happy with us, lol but we have cleared out some space.
Almost have the room ready for our adopted to be child. We are approved, etc. Just waiting for God to present the child he wants for us. But the room is almost ready. My In-laws are going to make it down for Easter this weekend. They haven’t been down in quite some time so it’s nice to see them making the trip. They should be here tomorrow night. And so it goes, yes my endless nonsense that no will read this entire post anyways. So I will leave it with that.
Well the day is finally here. What we have all been waiting for. Now it’s time to show the rest of the country that you deserved this opportunity years ago.
Tonight Sounders FC kick off the start to the MLS season hosting the New York Red Bulls. Should be a fun game to watch. Seattle should do great (I hope). Tonight kicks off what we all hope will be an extraordinary season and a potential playoff run.
I myself am bummed out that I live so far away so I can’t be there in person to watch it, but I have many friends who will be there, so they better take some good pictures, lol. However when Seattle comes to Dallas in March I will be there..!!!
Go Sounders…………………..

A little bit ago I was talking about our overgrown weeds in our lawn. Last night I finally had a chance to go to war on them. I was only able to tackle the front and side of the yard but it’s progress right. Got them all mowed down and was able to finally get some weed killer and fertilizer on the grass. So hopefully we will see some results soon. Not to mention that it’s about that time of year where if we do not get any rain, I will have to start watering the lawn, ack.. We really need a sprinkler system. Just wish they didn’t cost so much!
The MLS kicks off tomorrow night. I’m pretty excited about the MLS this year. Not just because it’s soccer and I love soccer, BUT my home town has a team this year and I’m excited for them. Trust me if I still lived in Seattle I would be at that home opener/season opener tomorrow night. I hope they do well this year and talk has it that they may make it to the playoffs this year. Seattle Sounders FC baby. My other favorite team is FC Dallas. Pretty much since I live in the area and have been going to games the last couple of years. And of course in May Seattle will be coming to Dallas so I am GOING to this game, for sure! And I’m sure I will go to some other ones as well. So the season kicks off tomorrow night with Seattle Sounders FC hosting the New York Red Bulls and then the rest of the teams start off this weekend. Go Sounders..!!!
We have been following the Iditarod this last 9-10 days and it’s been pretty exciting. I was checking the updates and live GPS they have this year and it was showing what we figured would happen a few days ago. Looks like Lance Mackey will win the Iditarod this year. A couple hours ago he left White Mountain after a mandatory 8 hour layover/rest period and is on his way to Nome. Unless something MAJOR happens he pretty much has this victory wrapped up. The second and third place looks to be a pretty close one and they are into White Mountain checkpoint less than 30 minutes of each other. Sebastian Schnuelle checked in with 14 dogs and John Baker with only 10. It might be a good race for second later tonight.
I’m not sure it will happen, but we would love to fly up there next year for the ceremonial start and re-start of the race. Maybe even meet a couple of mushers but I’m sure they are far too busy for that. Good luck Lance and the world will see you in a few short hours under the arch.
