Today was our Company Christmas Party. Yeah I know I should be more excited about it but I’m really not. Granted it’s the only time of the year where the office actually closes for 2.5 hours and the staff is still in the building. The party usually starts around 10:30am and it starts off with 3 groups of employees doing 3-5 minute skits in hope of winning some Christmas loot. After that we had a drawing for 6 door prizes and then the employees presented the owner with his and his wife’s gift. The drawback this year – we had a problem with one of our web servers that kept our attention till about 11am so I missed the skits this year
After the gifts and door prizes then the feast begins. It’s a huge potluck where everyone brings in something. And of course there is LOTS of food since we have close to 80 employees. Overall it was fun. I mainly just parked it in my office eating some food and just keeping an eye out on the systems to make sure nothing else went down while the party was going on.
Oh well back to normal work now, it’s been fun.
How is your Friday? Of course some that read this, browse over or just drop by might be in your evening time. Welcome. I can’t tell you how glad I am that it is Friday. Monday started off a horrible week. lol. I ended up working 8am to 10pm Monday due to some sql server upgrades and emergency updates. It wasn’t really fun but I can’t help that a drive or 2 went nuts. Anyways, I’m sitting at work and for the first time in a long time, I’m just reading the paper and checking out some news articles, and mainly checking out the Fry’s ad to see if there are any good deals this weekend. Browsing through the classifieds to check out the car deals, Harley parts and pet goods. Sports, well I will just check online for those.
Here are some of today’s front page headlines:
- Making their points, politely [debate coverage]
- Leaders more optimistic that House will back bailout today [Our governments financial crisis]
- Legal dispute may have broad effect on drilling [Grand Prairie, TX - Natural Gas drilling]
- HPV vaccine rule riles immigration advocates [Some Federal Mandate]
And a couple more, and not that you are really interested in them, but since I’m bored and work is going to get busy shortly I figured I would add those in there to kill some time and why not!
This weekend, well no major plans really, just some work around the house and a soccer game to coach. I might head to the movies Saturday night, not sure yet.
Do you have any plans for the weekend?
Have a good Friday..!!!

I started off the weekend Friday night by going out to dinner at one of our favorite BBQ places. It was really good and we ate way too much, I’m getting hungry right now thinking about it. LOL
Saturday morning I was off to soccer practice (like most Saturday mornings). Today we were having two practice games against 2 teams in our same club. Our team showed up 45 minutes to 1 hour early to start warming up, and then we started shortly after 10am. We lost both of our games. The first one was really bad and the girls acted like they had chains staked into the ground and their ankles were tied to them. The second game wasn’t as bad, but still bad enough. After the 2 games, the 4 teams that were there all had a water balloon and soaker fight. (the temps were getting really hot). So 3 weeks till tryouts, so I hope we get some players showing up at that time to add to our team. After soccer I ran home and then off to target we go really quick, then off to our friends house in Alvarado for some games and dinner.
Sunday came quick and off to church we go – Servanthood was the theme. (John 13:1-17) was the focus. After that a quick lunch and I was off to work for 3 hours since we had to upgrade some of our NIC’s in our Exchange, SQL and File servers. All went great until we realized that DELL screwed up again (this isn’t there first time) and didn’t send us the right card for the Exchange Server. Oh well I like to work weekends (NOT) and this will just make another weekend visit. After work it was home to relax the rest of the night!
