Storm Cloud Photos

Yesterday some of the area (North Texas) had some pretty good storms. Unfortunately they didn’t come to my area. So here are a couple of pictures I took to the distant storm cell structures.

5-7 Storms 5-7 Storms

Morning Clouds

Sometimes when the storms pass through in the middle of the night and you wake up and see behind the clouds, they can make up some really good photo opportunities. Here are 2 pictures I will share with you.

Big Storms Heading this way

Earlier around 6ish they posted a tornado watch #224 for our area. They are talking about Golf Ball size hail, damaging winds and possible tornado or two.

2 counties out there is a tornado warning right now for rotation and there are some reports that there is damage as well. Local media came on and showed the projected path and it’s coming right at us. Might have more hail like we did last Thursday night.

I will keep the blog updated as much as possible…

If your in this area, watch the sky!

UPDATE:
Wow I don’ think I have seen this much Lightning in a really long time.  It was insane.  I hope my video I took worked out.  I have never edited video but I will try and see if I can get something posted..  It was nuts.  We escaped the hail at least so far and the really high winds.

Severe Weather - Moderate to Slight Risk Tonight

Looks like we are just outside the moderate risk area tonight but still in the slight risk. Last thursday we were in a slight risk and had marble sized hail for at least 5 minutes straight.

Tonight’s Storm

Well I thought at one time we were going to lose a window. The hail was coming down so hard and fast I couldn’t believe it. I would say Dime to Marble size hail. Our street turned into a complete river.

I don’t think any of my pictures turned out but will check them out later and see what they look like and post them.

Earlier in the night there was a tornado warning out west by Mineral Wells and Weatherford. Spotters did confirm a touchdown out by Aledo, tx.

Our Sirens went off but not sure why as there was no warning. But always exciting to hear.

Thank Goodness for The Internet

As a blogging enthusiast I have always had love for the world wide web. But recently all its magnitude and potential is becoming more and more clear to me. I find it increasingly hard to imagine life before people had this channel of communication, entertainment and interaction. I mean think about, is there anything you can’t do on the web? Of course there is and those things should never be forgotten. I’m just saying that there is a whole world of opportunities out there and millions of people running fantastic and inspiring websites. Instead of simply login in to your email and then scroll around on Facebook I will give you an insight on what diversity the Internet has to offer.

Chase Storms Online

Although chasing heavy weather IRL is to prefer most of us storm fanatics aren’t that lucky. So why not do it from the comfort and protection of your own home, hopefully several states away from the storm? By surfing in to the NOAA’s National Weather Service online Storm Prediction Center you can through your laptop stay updated on weather forecasts and storm alerts all hours of the day. Isn’t it great?

Buy Your Contact Lenses Online

Maybe not the most exciting function of the Internet but a great example of how far we’ve come thanks to the Web. You can buy virtually anything online nowadays; flowers to your wife, rent a DVD over the weekend or order home-delivered pizza. Services enabling you to order product like new contact lenses has become the back bone of the term easy-living. Simply click your mouse and you’ll get what you’ve ordered to your door step in a couple of days.

Tax Deadline Tomorrow - File Your Taxes Online

I mean come one! When the most uptight, bureaucratic, paper working government agency find their way onto cyber space you know we’ve come a long way. No more piles of paper, no more running to the post officer the last day. The IRS has launched an e-filing function on their website which you have to apply and get approved for in order to use. If you are amongst the lucky applicants you can say good-bye to stressful tax declaring days and hello to easy living by filing your taxes online today.

Storm Damage

After I left the Dallas, Fort Worth area for Seattle on last Wed., The metroplex took a beating. Various tornado warned storms ripped through the area. First of all our house did not have any damage (thank goodness) however our friends down in Alvarado did not escape entirely.

Here are a couple of pictures they took and emailed me. It’s pretty wild how the sign is actually under the car. In addition to these pictures they lost both of the storage sheds. There neighbors however lost all their windows.

Disappointed

Yeah I know I shouldn’t be, but I am.  For the most part it’s really all my fault for not doing anything about it, but what can you do?

You try really hard.  You get all prepared.  You get all excited.  Then nothing!

Yes the storms yesterday have me disappointed today.  But like I said, it’s my own fault.  I could have chased some.  I could have driven up to 2 hours away yesterday and watched a couple really good looking storms.  Hopefully one day I will have the chance to go storm chasing and see a tornado or two.

I told my wife before we moved here that was going to be one of my goals is to get some really good storms and some tornados.  Now almost 5 years in Texas and still nothing.  Now don’t get me wrong, I have seen some pretty good storm setups and storms, but not quite what my goal is.

Spring is still early and plenty of time left.
