We are trying to figure out what we should do this summer. We usually make an annual trip up to Seattle to see my family. Now we have or maybe I should say I have thought about it, but there is so much going on I’m not sure we can get away for at least one week and head up that way. Also thought about checking out some Las Vegas hotels since my cousin still lives in Vegas. Hmmm, another idea was to head down south to Fredericksburg, Texas to a bed and breakfast. (I found a Gluten-free one)
I really wish we could go one a REAL vacation, but we are trying to save up as much money as possible since we are hopefully adopting a child this year. Maybe we should just take a few short weekend trips, instead of expensive long range flights.. Hmmm we will have to continue the debate on this one.
Yesterday we went to the last day of the Texas State Fair. It was such a nice day out too. Upper 70’s maybe 80-81 but it was really nice. Last year we didn’t go to the fair since I have Celiac disease it make it rather difficult to eat any of the fair foods. I mean isn’t that the reason you really go to the state fair, to eat and eat fried fatty foods? I know it used to be my reason. Corn Dogs, funnel cakes, and belgium waffles, yummy.
So yesterday we really wanted to go. My wife is a teacher and they get a free ticket so we decided since it was the last day lets just go out there for a few hours. Glad we did, as I said before it was a really nice day and by the time we left around 4ish, the crowds were still not that bad for being a Sunday.
Overall we had a really fun time and did a couple things we have not done at the fair in years past. Here are a couple of pictures that I took.

Sooner Mazzie Dog is suited up watching the game..
Go SOONERS…!!!!

Last score was 21-17 with a few minutes left in the 1st half…
The 2008 Red River Rivalry. (I still like Red River Shootout better)

Game takes place tomorrow in Dallas @ the Cotton Bowl around 11am cst.
Of course most will know that I will be cheering for Oklahoma and they better win and keep their #1 ranking in the country. However, I do believe they will win tomorrow and go on to the National Championship this year…
Go Sooners..

I have been watching 4 video streams of Houston News channels today and they are covering the coast area and talking with people and they have been reporting flooding and storm surge already and the eye of the hurricane still isn’t close to landfall. I think we are still 12 hours away from that. I think a lot of homes will be destroyed. So hence the title of my post, I can’t believe what some people think. Some people that they have interviewed on TV had decided to just stay and ride out the storm. I guess they don’t care that forecasters keep warning people that if they don’t leave it could be ‘Certain Death’ I don’t know about you but after watching this storm and all the reports about it, I would leave.. This storm is massive. In fact the track it’s taken we are going to see above rainfall averages for our area and sustained winds to 50mph for several hours. In fact they just issued a flash flood watch for the Dallas, Fort Worth area.
I know this storm would be FUN to watch, but not at the chance of losing your life over it. I hope they really decide to leave. They still have a couple hours to get out.

We had 2 of our 3 tournament soccer games today. ** Disclaimer for new or first time readers – This is our first year playing competitive soccer **
We started this mornings game off really bad and I won’t get into specifics here but it was bad. They acted like they were still sleeping, it was unreal. No communication No nothing. We lost that game 0-7 to Challenge 95 Dynamite. The Challenge team played really well.
Our second game we played like a competitive soccer team. We actually scored first on a direct penalty kick about 20 yards out and Mikayla nailed it home. It was a nice shot. We held them to 1-0 at half time, but you could quickly tell that our stamina was running out quick. Lonestars 95 Red South scored 2 and then toward the end of the game in desperation, we made an own goal trying to block a shot. We lost 1-3. I’m pretty proud of the girls for the hard work in the second game today. Tomorrow morning at 9am we play our last game against Eclipse 95 Red.
Let’s just get out there and play some good ball.
The drive down here today was pretty uneventful and really it was rather boring. We stopped along the way as the head coach of the team (I was following them) had a niece playing a college soccer game so we watched the 2nd half about 50 miles from Austin. as
We got here around 5:30pm and did some relaxing. I checked out the TV, then we were off to get the team registered at the host hotel, came back and grabbed 2 more people and we were off to the Outback for some awesome dinner. ** Service was HORRIBLE ** (Outback, Round Rock – Be careful.. lol)
Came back and more team members were here and a few of us sat around the pool chatting for a bit and now its about time for bed.
Will update tomorrow after our 2 games..!!

Well tomorrow morning I’m heading down South a few hours to Austin, TX. Our soccer team is going down there for a soccer tournament this weekend. The team and coaches are pretty excited about this trip. I’m sure we wont win the tournament, but as long as the girls have fun and we have a good weekend then that’s what counts.
Not to mention that I have never been to Austin, so it will be cool to see a new place in Texas I haven’t been yet. One drawback though, the wife started teaching this week and is swamped so she can’t go.. =( But I understand that the first few weeks and the last few weeks are always the busiest.
I will post some updates from Austin and if I get a chance and some photos from the trip throughout the weekend.
