Hey do you have the time?

I always catch myself asking what time it is, to the point it’s almost embarrassing. I coach a lot of soccer and almost every practice I am asking the other coaches for a time check. They always look at me and tell me to get a watch. LOL I just laugh at them. Even yesterday at our 3 hour practice I asked twice and then ended up just running to my cell phone and checking the time.

So today I thought about finally looking at getting a watch so I can better manage time at soccer. So I started looking and there are tons of watches. Athletic, sport, pocket, colorful, silver and gold watches. How do you choose with this many choices? Well I really should get a few different ones for all the activities I do.

What kind of watches do you have?

Tornado Watch #153

http://spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/ww0153.html

Looks like we are 1 county outside the edge of this tornado watch. With all the discussion going on, I’m sure we will be under one they way this storm is moving. It is still early on though. Local media mentioned storm initiation about 6pm to 7pm. However sometimes they are wrong so I like to check out what noaa.gov says.

This watch comes from Mesoscale Discussion #540

Tornado Watch #148

http://spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/ww0148.html

Tornado watch #148 was just issued for our area today till 9pm.  Radar is indicating clear skies and some storms starting to fire out west..

EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 200 PM UNTIL 900 PM CDT.

TORNADOES…HAIL TO 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER…THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 80 MPH…AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

DISCUSSION…SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN DEVELOPING ALONG SURFACE DRYLINE OVER NORTH CENTRAL TX IN THE NEXT HOUR.  THESE STORMS WILL LIKELY BECOME SEVERE RAPIDLY IN ENVIRONMENT OF HIGH CAPE VALUES AND FAVORABLE VERTICAL SHEAR.  SUPERCELLS
CAPABLE OF VERY LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES ARE EXPECTED.  THREAT WILL LIKELY PERSIST THROUGH MUCH OF THE EVENING.

Meso. Disc. #521 Issued

http://spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md0521.html

Looks like things might be getting rough around here in a little bit.  According to this it looks like a tornado or severe thunderstorm watch will be issued…

Here is one thing they mention:
THIS HAS RESULTED IN STRONG SURFACE HEATING WITHIN A MOIST AIR MASS.
THUS…FURTHER DESTABILIZATION IS EXPECTED AS MLCAPE VALUES INCREASE
TO GREATER THAN 1500 J/KG.  and this
MODERATE INSTABILITY AND INCREASING DEEP LAYER SHEAR VALUES WILL SUPPORT DISCRETE
   SUPERCELLS.

Outside it’s really humid and clearing up nicely..  =)  Yeah

Edit:  Just got this from the hazardous outlook:
GIVEN THE AVAILABLE INSTABILITY THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING…MANY
STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING GOLFBALL SIZE HAIL OR LARGER AND
DAMAGING WINDS. A FEW TORNADOES WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE…ESPECIALLY
IN THE MODERATE RISK AREA. IN ADDITION TO ANY SEVERE WEATHER…VERY
HEAVY RAINFALL WILL ACCOMPANY SOME OF THE STORMS WHICH WILL RESULT
IN AN ISOLATED FLASH FLOOD THREAT THROUGH THIS EVENING.

Not quite close enough, but maybe this storm will hold off till after practice tonight.
Although they say the next 48 hours should have some interesting fun weather, with possible Wind, Hail and Tornados possible.

Right now there are 2 severe thunderstorm warnings up in Oklahoma in the following counties;
Kiowa, Washita, Greer and Jackson (Extreme Southwest Oklahoma)
